The Häring endoprosthesis was originally designed for re-establishing an esophageal passage in patients with tumor stenosis of the esophagus. We have successfully used this prosthesis in two patients for closure of large pharyngeal fistulae following laryngectomy. The prosthesis provides a watertight closure of the pharynx and allows immediate natural feeding by the patient.
