Cutaneous leishmaniasis in Western Australia. 1979

A case of cutaneous leishmaniasis, which was successfully treated with metronidazole, is reported from Western Australia. Transmission is unlikely to occur in this country, but it is important to be aware that it may present in migrants or in travellers from endemic areas up to four years after inoculation of the parasite.
