Laryngomucocoel is a retention form of laryngocoele in which secretions cannot be normally be evacuated into the ventricle, hence the name of appendicular cyst (saccular cyst) used as a synonym of laryngomucocoele. Amongst laryngeal diseases, laryngocoele and laryngomucocoele are relatively rare and in contrast to published findings between the years 1950 and 1965, these pathological conditions are not as widespread as is thought. This article consists of a review of the literature and the presentation of an interesting case of combined external and internal laryngocoele containing mucus and which was successfully treated surgically.
