[Papillomatosis of the gallbladder with carcinoma]. 1979

G Interlandi, and C Minchio

A case of widespread papillomatosis of the gallbladder, accompanied with an area of carcinoma in the presence of calculosis is reported. The question whether papilloma of the gallbladder should be regarded as a precancerous lesion, and what rĂ´le concomitant lesions play in the pathogenesis of papilloma and its degeneration, are briefly discussed. It is felt that calculosis represents a considerable risk factor in the malignant transformation of papilloma, and the surgical treatment of all polypoid affections of the gallbladder is advised.
