[Neuroblastoma: radiological findings in 124 cases (author's transl)]. 1979

All the pertinent radiographs of 124 patients with histologically proven neuroblastoma were evaluated. The radiological features of the primary tumor and radiographic characteristics of metastases were also analyzed. Finally the value of radiological investigations to define the diffusion of the disease in comparison with laboratory and clinical findings were considered.

This tumor is the most common intraabdominal malignancy of childhood, but it may also arise from thorax, neck, or rarely occur in the central nervous system. Histologic features include uniform round cells with hyperchromatic nuclei arranged in nests and separated by fibrovascular septa. Neuroblastomas may be associated with the opsoclonus-myoclonus syndrome.
