[Newer antimycotics. V. 3-aryl-azo-indoles (author's transl)]. 1978

T Zsolnai

The author produced a number of 3-aryl-azo-indoles, and investigated their fungistatic efficiency in vitro. He proved, that the 3-(tolyl-azo)- and 3-(bhloro-phenyl-azo)-indoles exert a strong fungistatic effect on Trichophyton- and Epidermophyton-species, but they are inactive on other fungi-strains. Their fungistatic efficiency is considerable independent of the position of their methyl- or chloro-substituents.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007211 Indoles Benzopyrroles with the nitrogen at the number one carbon adjacent to the benzyl portion, in contrast to ISOINDOLES which have the nitrogen away from the six-membered ring.
D010406 Penicillins A group of antibiotics that contain 6-aminopenicillanic acid with a side chain attached to the 6-amino group. The penicillin nucleus is the chief structural requirement for biological activity. The side-chain structure determines many of the antibacterial and pharmacological characteristics. (Goodman and Gilman's The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics, 8th ed, p1065) Antibiotics, Penicillin,Penicillin,Penicillin Antibiotics
D003904 Mitosporic Fungi A large and heterogenous group of fungi whose common characteristic is the absence of a sexual state. Many of the pathogenic fungi in humans belong to this group. Deuteromycetes,Deuteromycota,Fungi imperfecti,Fungi, Mitosporic,Hyphomycetes,Deuteromycete,Deuteromycotas,Fungi imperfectus,Fungus, Mitosporic,Hyphomycete,Mitosporic Fungus, imperfectus, Fungi
D004821 Epidermophyton A fungal genus which grows in the epidermis and is the cause of TINEA. Epidermophytons
D000935 Antifungal Agents Substances that destroy fungi by suppressing their ability to grow or reproduce. They differ from FUNGICIDES, INDUSTRIAL because they defend against fungi present in human or animal tissues. Anti-Fungal Agents,Antifungal Agent,Fungicides, Therapeutic,Antibiotics, Antifungal,Therapeutic Fungicides,Agent, Antifungal,Anti Fungal Agents,Antifungal Antibiotics
D001230 Aspergillus A genus of mitosporic fungi containing about 100 species and eleven different teleomorphs in the family Trichocomaceae.
D001391 Azo Compounds Organic chemicals where aryl or alkyl groups are joined by two nitrogen atoms through a double bond (R-N Azo Dye,Azo Dyes,Compounds, Azo,Dye, Azo,Dyes, Azo
D014249 Trichophyton A mitosporic fungal genus and an anamorphic form of Arthroderma. Various species attack the skin, nails, and hair. Endodermophyton,Trychophyton,Endodermophytons,Trichophytons,Trychophytons
