Penetration of ovicidal fungi into altered eggs of Ascaris lumbricoides. 1979

H Lýsek, and J Bacovský

Eggs of Ascaris lumbricoides exposed to temperatures of 40--60 degrees C for 1 hour or irradiated by high doses of UV light are more massively attacked by ovicidal fungi than the intact eggs. The authors assume that the more rapid and increased effect of ovicidal fungi in the soils of the tropics and subtropics is due to greater insolation of the surface layers and their higher temperature.

D006358 Hot Temperature Presence of warmth or heat or a temperature notably higher than an accustomed norm. Heat,Hot Temperatures,Temperature, Hot,Temperatures, Hot
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D001200 Ascaris A genus of nematodes of the superfamily ASCARIDOIDEA whose species usually inhabit the intestine. Ascari
D001203 Ascomycota A phylum of fungi which have cross-walls or septa in the mycelium. The perfect state is characterized by the formation of a saclike cell (ascus) containing ascospores. Most pathogenic fungi with a known perfect state belong to this phylum. Ascomycetes,Cochliobolus,Sclerotinia,Ascomycete,Ascomycotas,Sclerotinias
D014466 Ultraviolet Rays That portion of the electromagnetic spectrum immediately below the visible range and extending into the x-ray frequencies. The longer wavelengths (near-UV or biotic or vital rays) are necessary for the endogenous synthesis of vitamin D and are also called antirachitic rays; the shorter, ionizing wavelengths (far-UV or abiotic or extravital rays) are viricidal, bactericidal, mutagenic, and carcinogenic and are used as disinfectants.
