Sixteen years' experience with the Heitz Boyer-Hovelacque procedure for exstrophy of the bladder. 1977

The various methods of managing bladder exstrophy are described. Bladder reconstruction and ureterosigmoidostomy are discussed and evaluated. The satisfactory results obtained with 21 patients treated by the Heitz Boyer-Hovelacque operation are reported and it is concluded that this is the procedure of choice when urinary diversion is needed for the exstrophic bladder.
