[Etiopathogenesis of arthrosis; nosological consequences]. 1977

P Ficat, and J Arlet

A nosological classification of arthrosis is proposed, consisting of two groups depending on whether the cartilage is intact (mechanical chondrosis) or altered (structural chondrosis). For both categories the principal aetiologies are mentioned. This aetiological differentiation has the aim of counteracting the facile diagnosis of primary arthrosis and is based on more elaborate diagnostic methods concerning the condition of the bone and cartilage.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007511 Ischemia A hypoperfusion of the BLOOD through an organ or tissue caused by a PATHOLOGIC CONSTRICTION or obstruction of its BLOOD VESSELS, or an absence of BLOOD CIRCULATION. Ischemias
D010003 Osteoarthritis A progressive, degenerative joint disease, the most common form of arthritis, especially in older persons. The disease is thought to result not from the aging process but from biochemical changes and biomechanical stresses affecting articular cartilage. In the foreign literature it is often called osteoarthrosis deformans. D002357 Cartilage Diseases Pathological processes involving the chondral tissue (CARTILAGE). Chondromalacia,Cartilage Disease,Chondromalacias
D002358 Cartilage, Articular A protective layer of firm, flexible cartilage over the articulating ends of bones. It provides a smooth surface for joint movement, protecting the ends of long bones from wear at points of contact. Articular Cartilage,Articular Cartilages,Cartilages, Articular
