Pyrazolo[4,3-d]pyrimidine nucleosides. Synthesis and antiviral activity of 1-beta-D-ribofuranosyl-3-methyl-6-substituted-7H-pyrazolo[4,3-d]pyr imi din-7-ones. 1984

N1 analogues of formycin B, with substituents at the 3 and 6 positions of the pyrazolo[4,3-d]pyrimidine moiety were synthesized by the direct SnCl4-catalyzed ribosylation method. The site of the glycosidic linkage and the anomeric configurations were established on the basis of X-ray crystallography, as well as 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Preliminary results of the antiviral testing of these derivatives in vitro are described.

D009682 Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Spectroscopic method of measuring the magnetic moment of elementary particles such as atomic nuclei, protons or electrons. It is employed in clinical applications such as NMR Tomography (MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING). D010948 Viral Plaque Assay Method for measuring viral infectivity and multiplication in CULTURED CELLS. Clear lysed areas or plaques develop as the VIRAL PARTICLES are released from the infected cells during incubation. With some VIRUSES, the cells are killed by a cytopathic effect; with others, the infected cells are not killed but can be detected by their hemadsorptive ability. Sometimes the plaque cells contain VIRAL ANTIGENS which can be measured by IMMUNOFLUORESCENCE. D005573 Formycins Pyrazolopyrimidine ribonucleosides isolated from Nocardia interforma. They are antineoplastic antibiotics with cytostatic properties.
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
