Neurological manifestations in systemic sclerosis (scleroderma). 1984

One hundred and twenty-five patients with systemic sclerosis were surveyed for neurological manifestations in a prospective study. Seven (5.6%) were found to have a defined neurologic lesion: 4 with carpal tunnel syndrome and one each with trigeminal neuralgia, mononeuritis multiplex and peripheral neuropathy. Neurological involvement occurs but is uncommon in this connective tissue disorder.

D002349	Carpal Tunnel Syndrome	Entrapment of the MEDIAN NERVE in the carpal tunnel, which is formed by the flexor retinaculum and the CARPAL BONES. This syndrome may be associated with repetitive occupational trauma (CUMULATIVE TRAUMA DISORDERS); wrist injuries; AMYLOID NEUROPATHIES; rheumatoid arthritis (see ARTHRITIS, RHEUMATOID); ACROMEGALY; PREGNANCY; and other conditions.
