[Effect of rausedyl and pyrroxan on autoregulation of cerebral circulation]. 1983

M D Gaevyĭ, and V E Pogorelyĭ

Acute experiments were made on dogs under morphine analgesia and local novocaine anesthesia with extracorporeal respiration to determine autoregulatory reactions (AR) of brain vessels to different levels of arterial pressure (AP). The experiments indicated that 12 h after rausedyl injection (1 mg/kg s.c.) there occurred the relaxation of AR to the AP lowering without essential changes in AR to the AP elevation. Twenty to 40 minutes after pyrroxan injection (0.5 mg/kg i.v.) AR were reduced, while AP increased, whereas during AP fall, AR improved. Possible mechanisms of the evidence obtained are discussed.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008297 Male Males
D012110 Reserpine An alkaloid found in the roots of Rauwolfia serpentina and R. vomitoria. Reserpine inhibits the uptake of norepinephrine into storage vesicles resulting in depletion of catecholamines and serotonin from central and peripheral axon terminals. It has been used as an antihypertensive and an antipsychotic as well as a research tool, but its adverse effects limit its clinical use. D000317 Adrenergic alpha-Antagonists Drugs that bind to but do not activate alpha-adrenergic receptors thereby blocking the actions of endogenous or exogenous adrenergic agonists. Adrenergic alpha-antagonists are used in the treatment of hypertension, vasospasm, peripheral vascular disease, shock, and pheochromocytoma. D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
