A procedure for detecting phosphonolipids on thin-layer chromatograms. 1980

L W Stillway, and S J Harmon

A simple modification of a phospholipid-specific spray for thin-layer chromatograms allows it to be used as a specific detection reagent for phosphonolipids and as a general lipid detection reagent.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008982 Molybdenum A metallic element with the atomic symbol Mo, atomic number 42, and atomic weight 95.95. It is an essential trace element, being a component of the enzymes xanthine oxidase, aldehyde oxidase, and nitrate reductase. Molybdenum-98,Molybdenum 98
D010743 Phospholipids Lipids containing one or more phosphate groups, particularly those derived from either glycerol (phosphoglycerides see GLYCEROPHOSPHOLIPIDS) or sphingosine (SPHINGOLIPIDS). They are polar lipids that are of great importance for the structure and function of cell membranes and are the most abundant of membrane lipids, although not stored in large amounts in the system. Phosphatides,Phospholipid
D002855 Chromatography, Thin Layer Chromatography on thin layers of adsorbents rather than in columns. The adsorbent can be alumina, silica gel, silicates, charcoals, or cellulose. D000615 Aminoethylphosphonic Acid An organophosphorus compound isolated from human and animal tissues. 2-Aminoethylphosphonic Acid,Ciliatine,2 Aminoethylphosphonic Acid,Acid, 2-Aminoethylphosphonic,Acid, Aminoethylphosphonic
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
