Substance P-like immunoreactivity in human sympathetic ganglia. 1984

M Del Fiacco, and M C Levanti, and G Brotzu, and R Montisci

Substance P-like immunoreactive nerve fibres and terminals are found in the human sympathetic paravertebral ganglia in connection with postganglionic neurones. Substance P may act as neurotransmitter or neuromodulator in the autonomic transmission in man.

D005455 Fluorescent Antibody Technique Test for tissue antigen using either a direct method, by conjugation of antibody with fluorescent dye (FLUORESCENT ANTIBODY TECHNIQUE, DIRECT) or an indirect method, by formation of antigen-antibody complex which is then labeled with fluorescein-conjugated anti-immunoglobulin antibody (FLUORESCENT ANTIBODY TECHNIQUE, INDIRECT). The tissue is then examined by fluorescence microscopy. D013373 Substance P An eleven-amino acid neurotransmitter that appears in both the central and peripheral nervous systems. It is involved in transmission of PAIN, causes rapid contractions of the gastrointestinal smooth muscle, and modulates inflammatory and immune responses.
