Seventy-five patients (aged 17-53) with an isolated lesion to the aortal valve have been examined. The study of correlations between clinico-instrumental and angiocardiographic findings has shown that the isotonic overload of the left ventricle as against the isometric one causes more pronounced changes in the contractility of the left ventricular myocardium which are expressed in an increased heart volume, the development of electrocardiographic manifestations of the left ventricular overload, a considerable enhancement in the myocardium weight and in the residual and end diastolic volumes of the left ventricle. The value of the gradient of the systolic pressure in patients with isolated aortal ostium stenosis determines the intensity of myocardial alterations. In patients with aortal valve insufficiency, the value of the pulse pressure is directly correlated with the myocardial state. The contractile function of the left ventricular myocardium in patients with combined cardiac aortal disease is dependent on the predominance of isotonic or isometric overloads of the left ventricle.

D004562 Electrocardiography Recording of the moment-to-moment electromotive forces of the HEART as projected onto various sites on the body's surface, delineated as a scalar function of time. The recording is monitored by a tracing on slow moving chart paper or by observing it on a cardioscope, which is a CATHODE RAY TUBE DISPLAY. 12-Lead ECG,12-Lead EKG,12-Lead Electrocardiography,Cardiography,ECG,EKG,Electrocardiogram,Electrocardiograph,12 Lead ECG,12 Lead EKG,12 Lead Electrocardiography,12-Lead ECGs,12-Lead EKGs,12-Lead Electrocardiographies,Cardiographies,ECG, 12-Lead,EKG, 12-Lead,Electrocardiograms,Electrocardiographies, 12-Lead,Electrocardiographs,Electrocardiography, 12-Lead
D005260 Female Females
D006332 Cardiomegaly Enlargement of the HEART, usually indicated by a cardiothoracic ratio above 0.50. Heart enlargement may involve the right, the left, or both HEART VENTRICLES or HEART ATRIA. Cardiomegaly is a nonspecific symptom seen in patients with chronic systolic heart failure (HEART FAILURE) or several forms of CARDIOMYOPATHIES. D006352 Heart Ventricles The lower right and left chambers of the heart. The right ventricle pumps venous BLOOD into the LUNGS and the left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood into the systemic arterial circulation.
