[Pseudocysts of the pancreas simulating a renal lesion. Apropos of 2 cases]. 1983

J P Mignard, and J Sobel, and F Flabeau

The authors report two cases of pancreatic pseudocysts simulating a left renal pathology. Although arteriography and sonography may visualize a cyst, the key to the diagnosis is the high amylase content of the fluid collected by translumbar puncture of the pseudocyst. Correct conservative treatment implies a precise preoperative diagnosis, as abdominal exploration is apt to be confusing and often leads to the performance of an unnecessary nephrectomy.
