[Intracardiac thrombosis in post-infarction heart aneurysm]. 1984

B A Konstantinov, and B V Shabalkin, and Iu V Belov

The examination of 93 patients with post-infarction aneurysm of the left ventricle of the heart revealed intracardiac thrombosis in 56 patients (60.2%). Out of 64 patients who were operated on, and 1 patient who died without surgery, thrombus was found in 36 cases (55.4%). Among the patients in whom the diagnosis of intracardiac thrombosis was verified at surgery with the help of roentgenoventriculography and computer-aided tomography of the heart, cardiac thrombi were diagnosed in 41.7 and 81% of the patients, respectively. The presence in a patient of intracardiac thrombosis is an indication for the resection of an aneurysm of the left ventricle of the heart and thrombectomy. The total mortality during the resection of cardiac aneurysm was 9.5% and was not associated with presence of intracardiac thrombosis. There were no intra-operational and post-operational thromboembolytic complications.

D008875 Middle Aged An adult aged 45 - 64 years. Middle Age
D009203 Myocardial Infarction NECROSIS of the MYOCARDIUM caused by an obstruction of the blood supply to the heart (CORONARY CIRCULATION). D003327 Coronary Disease An imbalance between myocardial functional requirements and the capacity of the CORONARY VESSELS to supply sufficient blood flow. It is a form of MYOCARDIAL ISCHEMIA (insufficient blood supply to the heart muscle) caused by a decreased capacity of the coronary vessels. D005260 Female Females
D006322 Heart Aneurysm A localized bulging or dilatation in the muscle wall of a heart (MYOCARDIUM), usually in the LEFT VENTRICLE. Blood-filled aneurysms are dangerous because they may burst. Fibrous aneurysms interfere with the heart function through the loss of contractility. True aneurysm is bound by the vessel wall or cardiac wall. False aneurysms are HEMATOMA caused by myocardial rupture. Cardiac Aneurysm,Aneurysm, Cardiac,Aneurysm, Heart,Aneurysms, Cardiac,Aneurysms, Heart,Cardiac Aneurysms,Heart Aneurysms

D000328 Adult A person having attained full growth or maturity. Adults are of 19 through 44 years of age. For a person between 19 and 24 years of age, YOUNG ADULT is available. Adults
D001026 Coronary Artery Bypass Surgical therapy of ischemic coronary artery disease achieved by grafting a section of saphenous vein, internal mammary artery, or other substitute between the aorta and the obstructed coronary artery distal to the obstructive lesion.
