[Clinical trials of interferon in ophthalmology]. 1984

The clinical trials of interferon in ophthalmology have been carried out mainly using a method of topical administration to viral keratoconjunctivitis. Eye infections by herpes simplex virus in humans have been shown to be benefited by interferon. Topical combination therapy of herpetic keratitis by interferon with debridement or other antiviral agents would be more effective. Epidemic keratoconjunctivitis have failed to respond favourably to interferon except some symptoms.
