[Plastic surgery of the arteries using autologous veins in free transplantation of combined flaps with microvascular anastomoses]. 1983

V S Krylov, and N O Milanov, and A I Nerobeev, and E I Trofimov

On the basis of their personal experience with 63 transfers of compound skin-fat and skin-muscle flaps on microvascular anastomoses the authors give an estimation of using the autovein (eight observations) for plasty of the artery of the flap vascular pedicle. The authors describe indications for using the autovein, methods and technique of its formation. It was shown that there was no direct dependence of unsatisfactory results on using the autovenous plasty of the artery. They were found to result from not correct formation of the flap.

D000273 Adipose Tissue Specialized connective tissue composed of fat cells (ADIPOCYTES). It is the site of stored FATS, usually in the form of TRIGLYCERIDES. In mammals, there are two types of adipose tissue, the WHITE FAT and the BROWN FAT. Their relative distributions vary in different species with most adipose tissue being white. D013524 Surgical Flaps Tongues of skin and subcutaneous tissue, sometimes including muscle, cut away from the underlying parts but often still attached at one end. They retain their own microvasculature which is also transferred to the new site. They are often used in plastic surgery for filling a defect in a neighboring region.
