Experimental ventricular preexcitation--type WPW syndrome. 1984

S Cotoi, and M Stefănescu, and G Badiu

Experimental ventricular preexcitation type WPW was performed in five dogs, through an artificial bypass, an electric conductor, made of copper, with a diameter of 8 mm and 12 cm in length. Whenever the conductor was put in contact with both the atrial and the ventricular wall, a WPW electrocardiogram pattern was obtained. This work has been done to better localize with epicardial mapping the site of preexcitation for surgical purposes.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D011300 Preoperative Care Care given during the period prior to undergoing surgery when psychological and physical preparations are made according to the special needs of the individual patient. This period spans the time between admission to the hospital to the time the surgery begins. D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D014927 Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome A form of ventricular pre-excitation characterized by a short PR interval and a long QRS interval with a delta wave. In this syndrome, atrial impulses are abnormally conducted to the HEART VENTRICLES via an ACCESSORY CONDUCTING PATHWAY that is located between the wall of the right or left atria and the ventricles, also known as a BUNDLE OF KENT. The inherited form can be caused by mutation of PRKAG2 gene encoding a gamma-2 regulatory subunit of AMP-activated protein kinase.
