M M Makii, and M I Evans, and S L Yang

A rare case of interstitial twin pregnancy is presented. The attendant difficulties of ultrasonography and the important role of laparoscopy in the diagnosis and management of this unusual condition are discussed.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D010535 Laparoscopy A procedure in which a laparoscope (LAPAROSCOPES) is inserted through a small incision near the navel to examine the abdominal and pelvic organs in the PERITONEAL CAVITY. If appropriate, biopsy or surgery can be performed during laparoscopy. D011271 Pregnancy, Ectopic A potentially life-threatening condition in which EMBRYO IMPLANTATION occurs outside the cavity of the UTERUS. Most ectopic pregnancies (>96%) occur in the FALLOPIAN TUBES, known as TUBAL PREGNANCY. They can be in other locations, such as UTERINE CERVIX; OVARY; and abdominal cavity (PREGNANCY, ABDOMINAL).
