[Reduction of the incidence of suppurative complications after mitral commissurotomy through the use of pentoxyl and methyluracil]. 1978

A S Iarygin, and R M Markov

Clinico-experimental study of the pentoxyl and methyluracil effect upon the natural resistance in mitral stenosis cases is presented together with the findings obtained in the experiments dealing with the healing of the wounds infected with pathogenic staphylococcus. All the control animals developed subcutaneous abscesses leading to the separation of the wound margins. The inflammation of the wound was less pronounced in the animals treated with pentoxyl and methyluracil. The use of pyrimidin derivatives before and during operation and postoperatively resulted in the decrease of the incidence of postoperative suppurative complications.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008875 Middle Aged An adult aged 45 - 64 years. Middle Age
D008946 Mitral Valve Stenosis Narrowing of the passage through the MITRAL VALVE due to FIBROSIS, and CALCINOSIS in the leaflets and chordal areas. This elevates the left atrial pressure which, in turn, raises pulmonary venous and capillary pressure leading to bouts of DYSPNEA and TACHYCARDIA during physical exertion. RHEUMATIC FEVER is its primary cause.
