[Transcription peculiarities of nuclear genome in different stages of liver regeneration. Activity of cytosol protein factor on the activation of different forms of nuclear DNA-dependent RNA-polymerases]. 1984

Subfraction P containing a "regeneration factor" which controls the activity of three forms of DNA-dependent RNA-polymerase was isolated from rat liver hepatocyte cytosol one hour after partial hepatectomy. The factor exerts differentiated effects towards purified enzyme: it increases the activity of RNA-polymerase I and inhibits that of RNA polymerases II and III in a system with the enzyme from resting liver. In a heterologous system, the effect of the factor is nonspecific.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007700 Kinetics The rate dynamics in chemical or physical systems.
D008099 Liver A large lobed glandular organ in the abdomen of vertebrates that is responsible for detoxification, metabolism, synthesis and storage of various substances. Livers
D008115 Liver Regeneration Repair or renewal of hepatic tissue. Liver Regenerations,Regeneration, Liver,Regenerations, Liver
D008297 Male Males
D011506 Proteins Linear POLYPEPTIDES that are synthesized on RIBOSOMES and may be further modified, crosslinked, cleaved, or assembled into complex proteins with several subunits. The specific sequence of AMINO ACIDS determines the shape the polypeptide will take, during PROTEIN FOLDING, and the function of the protein. D011919 Rats, Inbred Strains Genetically identical individuals developed from brother and sister matings which have been carried out for twenty or more generations or by parent x offspring matings carried out with certain restrictions. This also includes animals with a long history of closed colony breeding. D004247 DNA A deoxyribonucleotide polymer that is the primary genetic material of all cells. Eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms normally contain DNA in a double-stranded state, yet several important biological processes transiently involve single-stranded regions. DNA, which consists of a polysugar-phosphate backbone possessing projections of purines (adenine and guanine) and pyrimidines (thymine and cytosine), forms a double helix that is held together by hydrogen bonds between these purines and pyrimidines (adenine to thymine and guanine to cytosine). D006498 Hepatectomy Excision of all or part of the liver. (Dorland, 28th ed) Hepatectomies
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D012321 DNA-Directed RNA Polymerases Enzymes that catalyze DNA template-directed extension of the 3'-end of an RNA strand one nucleotide at a time. They can initiate a chain de novo. In eukaryotes, three forms of the enzyme have been distinguished on the basis of sensitivity to alpha-amanitin, and the type of RNA synthesized. (From Enzyme Nomenclature, 1992).
