Basal cell carcinoma of the external auditory meatus. 1984

Five of a personal series of 47 patients with carcinoma of the middle and external ear had basal cell carcinoma. Two patients had extensive disease, one having petrosectomy and the other refusing. All treated patients did well.

Clinically it is divided into types: nodular, cicatricial, morphaic, and erythematoid (pagetoid). They develop on hair-bearing skin, most commonly on sun-exposed areas.
