Replacement of partially resected canine urethra by polytetrafluoroethylene. 1984

H Anwar, and B Dave, and J J Seebode

Twelve Gore-Tex grafts were used to replace a section of the urethra in 10 dogs. The grafts functioned well for three months, but at six months there was calcification and fistula formation. A fibrous tube developed around the grafts rather than a regenerated urethra. There was no epithelial regrowth on the internal surface.
