Recurrent esophageal carcinoma treated with intracavitary irradiation. 1984

Y Hishikawa, and S Tanaka, and T Miura

Two cases of esophageal recurrent carcinoma after past external irradiation were treated with intracavitary irradiation, but local control was not achieved in these two cases. These examples demonstrate that intracavitary irradiation for secondary treatment of recurrent esophageal cancer is not effective. Intracavitary irradiation should be performed primarily following external irradiation as a booster therapy.
