The effect of glutathione on 6-mercaptopurine pharmacokinetics in rabbits. 1983

Plasma concentration of 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP) after iv administration of the drug is proportional to the dose in the range from 25 to 100 mg/kg, and the course of the time curve corresponds with a three-compartment open model. Glutathione (GSH) depresses the 6-MP level in plasma; a dose of 10 mg/kg of GSH elevates the concentration in shallow peripheral compartment and prolongs t0.5. A dose of 20 mg/kg depresses the 6-MP concentration in all compartments. The results indicate that 6-MP distribution in the body may be changed by GSH .
