Observations on the effect of angina on the left ventricle, with special reference to diastolic behavior. 1978

A F Rickards, and R Seabra-Gomes

A series of investigations on patients developing angina following pacing are described. Evidence suggesting tension prolongation in the ischaemic areas of the ventricle with reduction in segmental systolic inward movement and a decrease in segmental diastolic complicance is presented and discussed.

D003187 Compliance Distensibility measure of a chamber such as the lungs (LUNG COMPLIANCE) or bladder. Compliance is expressed as a change in volume per unit change in pressure.
D003327 Coronary Disease An imbalance between myocardial functional requirements and the capacity of the CORONARY VESSELS to supply sufficient blood flow. It is a form of MYOCARDIAL ISCHEMIA (insufficient blood supply to the heart muscle) caused by a decreased capacity of the coronary vessels.
