A rapid and sensitive gas chromatographic method for quantitation of 2-phenylethylamine in brain tissue and urine. 1984

D R Hampson, and G B Baker, and R T Coutts

A rapid, sensitive procedure for analysis of 2-phenylethylamine in brain tissue and urine is described. The method involves extraction with a liquid ion exchanger, elution with HCl, acetylation under aqueous conditions, pentafluorobenzoylation under anhydrous conditions and analysis using a gas chromatograph equipped with a capillary column and an electron-capture detector.

D001923 Brain Chemistry Changes in the amounts of various chemicals (neurotransmitters, receptors, enzymes, and other metabolites) specific to the area of the central nervous system contained within the head. These are monitored over time, during sensory stimulation, or under different disease states. Chemistry, Brain,Brain Chemistries,Chemistries, Brain
D002849 Chromatography, Gas Fractionation of a vaporized sample as a consequence of partition between a mobile gaseous phase and a stationary phase held in a column. Two types are gas-solid chromatography, where the fixed phase is a solid, and gas-liquid, in which the stationary phase is a nonvolatile liquid supported on an inert solid matrix. D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
