The sliding gluteus maximus myocutaneous flap: its relevance in ambulatory patients. 1984

O M Ramirez, and J C Orlando, and D J Hurwitz

Huge sacral defects can be closed reliably with sliding gluteus maximus myocutaneous flaps. In ambulatory patients, this flap is designed to maintain innervation, vascularity, and functional integrity of the muscle.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007249 Inflammation A pathological process characterized by injury or destruction of tissues caused by a variety of cytologic and chemical reactions. It is usually manifested by typical signs of pain, heat, redness, swelling, and loss of function. Innate Inflammatory Response,Inflammations,Inflammatory Response, Innate,Innate Inflammatory Responses
D008297 Male Males
D008875 Middle Aged An adult aged 45 - 64 years. Middle Age
D009068 Movement The act, process, or result of passing from one place or position to another. It differs from LOCOMOTION in that locomotion is restricted to the passing of the whole body from one place to another, while movement encompasses both locomotion but also a change of the position of the whole body or any of its parts. Movement may be used with reference to humans, vertebrate and invertebrate animals, and microorganisms. Differentiate also from MOTOR ACTIVITY, movement associated with behavior. Movements
D009132 Muscles Contractile tissue that produces movement in animals. Muscle Tissue,Muscle,Muscle Tissues,Tissue, Muscle,Tissues, Muscle
D009336 Necrosis The death of cells in an organ or tissue due to disease, injury or failure of the blood supply.
D011832 Radiation Injuries Harmful effects of non-experimental exposure to ionizing or non-ionizing radiation in VERTEBRATES. D002081 Buttocks Either of two fleshy protuberances at the lower posterior section of the trunk or HIP in humans and primate on which a person or animal sits, consisting of gluteal MUSCLES and fat. Gluteal Region,Buttock,Gluteal Regions,Region, Gluteal,Regions, Gluteal
D003668 Pressure Ulcer An ulceration caused by prolonged pressure on the SKIN and TISSUES when one stays in one position for a long period of time, such as lying in bed. The bony areas of the body are the most frequently affected sites which become ischemic (ISCHEMIA) under sustained and constant pressure.
