3-Hydrazinopyridazine derivatives as inhibitors of pyridoxal-phosphate dependent enzymes. 1980

F Buffoni, and C Carpi, and G Banchelli Soldaini, and L Raimondi

A series 3-hydrazinopyridazine derivatives with anti-hypertensive properties was studied as inhibitors of pyridoxal-phosphate dependent enzymes. All the compounds with a free hydrazino group were found to be strong inhibitors in vitro. In vivo inactive compounds became active at doses which exert a hypotensive action. The significance of this inhibition is discussed.

D008928 Mitochondria Semiautonomous, self-reproducing organelles that occur in the cytoplasm of all cells of most, but not all, eukaryotes. Each mitochondrion is surrounded by a double limiting membrane. The inner membrane is highly invaginated, and its projections are called cristae. Mitochondria are the sites of the reactions of oxidative phosphorylation, which result in the formation of ATP. They contain distinctive RIBOSOMES, transfer RNAs (RNA, TRANSFER); AMINO ACYL T RNA SYNTHETASES; and elongation and termination factors. Mitochondria depend upon genes within the nucleus of the cells in which they reside for many essential messenger RNAs (RNA, MESSENGER). Mitochondria are believed to have arisen from aerobic bacteria that established a symbiotic relationship with primitive protoeukaryotes. D011724 Pyridazines Six-membered rings with two adjacent nitrogen atoms also called 1,2-diazine.
D011732 Pyridoxal Phosphate This is the active form of VITAMIN B 6 serving as a coenzyme for synthesis of amino acids, neurotransmitters (serotonin, norepinephrine), sphingolipids, aminolevulinic acid. During transamination of amino acids, pyridoxal phosphate is transiently converted into pyridoxamine phosphate (PYRIDOXAMINE). D006631 Amine Oxidase (Copper-Containing) A group of enzymes including those oxidizing primary monoamines, diamines, and histamine. They are copper proteins, and, as their action depends on a carbonyl group, they are sensitive to inhibition by semicarbazide. D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
