Hemodynamic changes in pulmonary circulation following fat embolism. 1980

U Hartenauer, and E Götz

Hemodynamic effects in pulmonary circulation were measured in three young patients having proved fat embolism following trauma. The increase of pulmonary artery pressure, even in the early phase, was typical. The direction of the therapy to normalise the hemodynamic changes was the most important part of the therapeutic management.

D002302 Cardiac Output The volume of BLOOD passing through the HEART per unit of time. It is usually expressed as liters (volume) per minute so as not to be confused with STROKE VOLUME (volume per beat). Cardiac Outputs,Output, Cardiac,Outputs, Cardiac
D004298 Dopamine One of the catecholamine NEUROTRANSMITTERS in the brain. It is derived from TYROSINE and is the precursor to NOREPINEPHRINE and EPINEPHRINE. Dopamine is a major transmitter in the extrapyramidal system of the brain, and important in regulating movement. A family of receptors (RECEPTORS, DOPAMINE) mediate its action.
