[Effect of hypokinesia on bone tumor induction]. 1982

M A Makarov, and L A Cherkasskiĭ

The effects of different periods of hypokinesia on the development of 7.12-dimethyl-benzoanthracene-induced osteosarcoma of shinbone were studied in 148 rabbits. The time of induction was found to decrease considerably - from 197.6 to 113.9 days. This may be attributed to hypokinesia's constituting a stress, which involves release of adrenocortical hormones, atrophy of the thymus and reduced cellular immunological vigor.
