[Hemodynamics of pulmonary circulation in patients with hypertension complicated by chronic ischemic heart disease]. 1983

G K Lazidi, and A A Krishchuk, and I V Chulaevskaia

Pulmonary circulation hemodynamics were studied in 175 patients with essential hypertension (EH), coronary disease (CD), atherosclerotic and post-infarction cardiosclerosis and combinations thereof. Pulmonary hemodynamic disorders were found both in cases of EH and CD, being more pronounced in EH patients. When the two diseases are combined, changes reflecting the state of pulmonary hemodynamics are more marked than those occurring in patients with EH or CD alone. When combined, EH and CD mutually aggravate each other's clinical course and symptomatology.

D006973 Hypertension Persistently high systemic arterial BLOOD PRESSURE. Based on multiple readings (BLOOD PRESSURE DETERMINATION), hypertension is currently defined as when SYSTOLIC PRESSURE is consistently greater than 140 mm Hg or when DIASTOLIC PRESSURE is consistently 90 mm Hg or more. D002908 Chronic Disease Diseases which have one or more of the following characteristics: they are permanent, leave residual disability, are caused by nonreversible pathological alteration, require special training of the patient for rehabilitation, or may be expected to require a long period of supervision, observation, or care (Dictionary of Health Services Management, 2d ed). For epidemiological studies chronic disease often includes HEART DISEASES; STROKE; CANCER; and diabetes (DIABETES MELLITUS, TYPE 2). D003327 Coronary Disease An imbalance between myocardial functional requirements and the capacity of the CORONARY VESSELS to supply sufficient blood flow. It is a form of MYOCARDIAL ISCHEMIA (insufficient blood supply to the heart muscle) caused by a decreased capacity of the coronary vessels.
