Autopsy was performed on a total of 48 motorcycle accident victims (39 riders and 9 passengers) in Cape Town during 1982. Thirty-nine (81%) were under 30 years of age, while 61,3% of the riders tested were found to have alcohol in their blood, 42% having a blood alcohol level of more than 0,10 g/dl.
