[Computer controlled conformation radiotherapy]. 1983

We have developed two systematic methods of Computer Controlled Conformation Radiotherapy in advance of any other institutes in the world. From our clinical experiences of five years, it is clear that we can employ the computer controlled radiotherapy with significant accuracy. Two hundreds and ninety patients have been treated by this computer controlled conformation radiotherapy. Based upon these clinical experiences, we established the indication for the conformation radiotherapy and methods of treatments methods for each lesion. The advantage of the conformation radiotherapy is capability of delivering higher dose to the tumor while protecting surrounding tissue. This advantage results in minimizing complication in whole body and maximizing local control rate. This paper discusses the advantage in clinical use for brain tumor, prostatic carcinoma and pancreatic carcinoma.
