Cytological diagnosis of pulmonary cryptococcosis. 1980

T H Gleason, and S P Hammar, and M Barthas, and M Kasprisin, and D Bockus

In six cases of pulmonary cryptococcosis cytological studies helped to establish the correct diagnosis. With the introduction of new diagnostic techniques, such as fine-needle aspiration and fiberoptic bronchoscopy, preoperative and antemortem diagnoses of pulmonary cryptococcosis will be made more frequently. It is important to be familiar with the cytological appearance of the organism and its importance in sputum or aspirated material.
