[Comparative evaluation of the cardiac stroke and minute volumes by impedance cardiography and radiocardiography]. 1980

V Draganov, and E Sheĭretova

In 32 health subjects and 33 patients, mainly with acquired heart defects, the indices of central hemodynamics were determined, namely -- stroke and minute volume and their indices via impedance-cardiographic and radiocardiographic methods. A very good correlation was established between those indices, obtained via both methods. Impedance-cardiography is concluded to be a very convenient easily applicable method in determining cardiac hemodynamics, both in healthy subjects and cardiac patients with acquired heart defects.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008875 Middle Aged An adult aged 45 - 64 years. Middle Age
D010992 Plethysmography, Impedance Recording changes in electrical impedance between electrodes placed on opposite sides of a part of the body, as a measure of volume changes in the path of the current. (Stedman, 25th ed) Rheography,Impedance Plethysmography,Impedance Plethysmographies,Plethysmographies, Impedance,Rheographies
D011865 Radioisotope Dilution Technique Method for assessing flow through a system by injection of a known quantity of radionuclide into the system and monitoring its concentration over time at a specific point in the system. D002302 Cardiac Output The volume of BLOOD passing through the HEART per unit of time. It is usually expressed as liters (volume) per minute so as not to be confused with STROKE VOLUME (volume per beat). Cardiac Outputs,Output, Cardiac,Outputs, Cardiac
D002306 Cardiac Volume The volume of the HEART, usually relating to the volume of BLOOD contained within it at various periods of the cardiac cycle. The amount of blood ejected from a ventricle at each beat is STROKE VOLUME. Heart Volume,Cardiac Volumes,Heart Volumes,Volume, Cardiac,Volume, Heart,Volumes, Cardiac,Volumes, Heart
D002307 Cardiography, Impedance A type of impedance plethysmography in which bioelectrical impedance is measured between electrodes positioned around the neck and around the lower thorax. It is used principally to calculate stroke volume and cardiac volume, but it is also related to myocardial contractility, thoracic fluid content, and circulation to the extremities.
