Myodermal flap closure of below the knee amputation. 1981

A L Dellon, and R F Morgan

Primary healing was achieved in 20 of 21 below the knee amputations which were closed with a gastrocnemius myodermal flap. A version of this versatile flap is available for closure of any below knee amputation. Preservation of the perforating muscular arteries in these myodermal flaps will maximize circulation to the skin of the lower extremity.
