[Late results of the surgical treatment of children with bilateral hydronephrosis]. 1978

N L Kuts, and V Z Moskalenko, and V N Mal'tsev

The authors report on the results of surgical treatment of 17 children with bilateral hydronephrosis. Corrective operations gave better results in patients who had not yet developed irreversible structural changes in the kidneys. The authors believe that an early detection of hydronephrosis and removal of obstructions to normal urinary outflow from the kidneys are necessary.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007676 Kidney Failure, Chronic The end-stage of CHRONIC RENAL INSUFFICIENCY. It is characterized by the severe irreversible kidney damage (as measured by the level of PROTEINURIA) and the reduction in GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATE to less than 15 ml per min (Kidney Foundation: Kidney Disease Outcome Quality Initiative, 2002). These patients generally require HEMODIALYSIS or KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION.
