The trypsin inhibitor from Gleditsia triacanthos (L.) seeds was purified by affinity chromatography on a column with trypsin-Sepharose 4B. The isolated inhibitor is a single-chain protein with molecular weight of about 20 000. The inhibitor suppresses bovine trypsin at a molar rate of 1 : 1, but weakly inhibits chymotrypsin in a non-stoichiometric manner. Some properties of the isolated inhibitor closely resembled those of soybean trypsin inhibitor (Kunitz).

D002846 Chromatography, Affinity A chromatographic technique that utilizes the ability of biological molecules, often ANTIBODIES, to bind to certain ligands specifically and reversibly. It is used in protein biochemistry. (McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms, 4th ed) Chromatography, Bioaffinity,Immunochromatography,Affinity Chromatography,Bioaffinity Chromatography
D002918 Chymotrypsin A serine endopeptidase secreted by the pancreas as its zymogen, CHYMOTRYPSINOGEN and carried in the pancreatic juice to the duodenum where it is activated by TRYPSIN. It selectively cleaves aromatic amino acids on the carboxyl side. Alpha-Chymotrypsin Choay,Alphacutanée,Avazyme
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. Animal,Metazoa,Animalia
D012639 Seeds The encapsulated embryos of flowering plants. They are used as is or for animal feed because of the high content of concentrated nutrients like starches, proteins, and fats. Rapeseed, cottonseed, and sunflower seed are also produced for the oils (fats) they yield. D014357 Trypsin A serine endopeptidase that is formed from TRYPSINOGEN in the pancreas. It is converted into its active form by ENTEROPEPTIDASE in the small intestine. It catalyzes hydrolysis of the carboxyl group of either arginine or lysine. EC 3.4.21.4. Tripcellim,Trypure,beta-Trypsin,beta Trypsin
D014361 Trypsin Inhibitors Serine proteinase inhibitors which inhibit trypsin. They may be endogenous or exogenous compounds. Trypsin Inhibitor,Inhibitor, Trypsin,Inhibitors, Trypsin
