[Visual stress in work at visual display units (author's transl)]. 1982

J J Meyer, and P Rey, and A Bousquet, and J Pittard

The ergonomic study of VDUs demonstrates the importance of visual stress in the total work load. By means of a laboratory experiment and authors showed that the distribution of light in the visual field exerts a major influence on the operator's visual acuity. For this reason, it is of great interest to measure the visual performance in light conditions as close as possible to real working conditions. The results of this experiment can also be of practical value in formulating guidelines for the design of appropriate work places corresponding to the visual requirements of VDU operators.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries

D014792 Visual Acuity Clarity or sharpness of OCULAR VISION or the ability of the eye to see fine details. Visual acuity depends on the functions of RETINA, neuronal transmission, and the interpretative ability of the brain. Normal visual acuity is expressed as 20/20 indicating that one can see at 20 feet what should normally be seen at that distance. Visual acuity can also be influenced by brightness, color, and contrast. Acuities, Visual,Acuity, Visual,Visual Acuities
D014794 Visual Fields The total area or space visible in a person's peripheral vision with the eye looking straightforward. Field, Visual,Fields, Visual,Visual Field
