[Reflections on alternative treatment of alcohol addiction in a Federal German provincial psychiatric hospital]. 1982

U Bartmann

The article describes and discusses the possibilities of treating various groups of alcohol addicts. Particular attention is drawn to the underprivileged situation of chronic alcoholics. Suggestions for initiating a possible meaningful therapy are advanced. Another point of emphasis is the description of the possibility of treating alcoholics who have been compulsorily referred to hospital but who are not depraved. It is suggested to pay greater attention to the possibilities of short-term treatment and training to achieve controlled drinking.
