[Adrenergic innervation of the precapillary sphincters of the mesenteric microcirculatory bed]. 1982

E B Khaĭsman

Adrenergic (sympathetic) innervation of the precapillary sphincters in the microcirculatory bed of the rat mesentery was studied with Falck-Hillarp's method. It was shown that the precapillary sphincters are characterized by high density of the adrenergic innervation structures and specific architectonics. The results allow one to consider the adrenergic apparatus of the precapillary sphincters as a morphological substrate of their nervous regulation, thus indicating direct participation of sympathetic innervation in the sphincter function in the microcirculatory bed.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008643 Mesentery A layer of the peritoneum which attaches the abdominal viscera to the ABDOMINAL WALL and conveys their blood vessels and nerves. Mesenteries
D008833 Microcirculation The circulation of the BLOOD through the MICROVASCULAR NETWORK. Microvascular Blood Flow,Microvascular Circulation,Blood Flow, Microvascular,Circulation, Microvascular,Flow, Microvascular Blood,Microvascular Blood Flows,Microvascular Circulations
D008856 Microscopy, Fluorescence Microscopy of specimens stained with fluorescent dye (usually fluorescein isothiocyanate) or of naturally fluorescent materials, which emit light when exposed to ultraviolet or blue light. Immunofluorescence microscopy utilizes antibodies that are labeled with fluorescent dye. D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. Animal,Metazoa,Animalia
D013564 Sympathetic Nervous System The thoracolumbar division of the autonomic nervous system. Sympathetic preganglionic fibers originate in neurons of the intermediolateral column of the spinal cord and project to the paravertebral and prevertebral ganglia, which in turn project to target organs. The sympathetic nervous system mediates the body's response to stressful situations, i.e., the fight or flight reactions. It often acts reciprocally to the parasympathetic system.
