Thermography in artificially induced coronary circulatory disorders. 1982

In the open chest the heart loses more heat and its epicardiac temperature will fundamentally depend upon the temperature of the body and its environment, upon the flow in the coronaries and upon the actual state of myocardial metabolism. The experiments were carried out with the AGA Thermovision Type 750 equipment. The epicardial temperature changes induced by reactive hyperaemia due to the temporary coronary ligation in 24 dogs, and by permanent coronary ligation in 70 dogs, as well as by the gradually reduced coronary flow of another 8 dogs were recorded by means of thermography. The results indicated a relationship between the changes in epicardial flow and epicardial temperature, consequently thermography is considered a method suitable for the study of myocardial flow.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008026 Ligation Application of a ligature to tie a vessel or strangulate a part. Ligature,Ligations,Ligatures
D008297 Male Males
D010496 Pericardium A conical fibro-serous sac surrounding the HEART and the roots of the great vessels (AORTA; VENAE CAVAE; PULMONARY ARTERY). Pericardium consists of two sacs: the outer fibrous pericardium and the inner serous pericardium. The latter consists of an outer parietal layer facing the fibrous pericardium, and an inner visceral layer (epicardium) resting next to the heart, and a pericardial cavity between these two layers. D003326 Coronary Circulation The circulation of blood through the CORONARY VESSELS of the HEART. Circulation, Coronary
D003327 Coronary Disease An imbalance between myocardial functional requirements and the capacity of the CORONARY VESSELS to supply sufficient blood flow. It is a form of MYOCARDIAL ISCHEMIA (insufficient blood supply to the heart muscle) caused by a decreased capacity of the coronary vessels. D004285 Dogs The domestic dog, Canis familiaris, comprising about 400 breeds, of the carnivore family CANIDAE. They are worldwide in distribution and live in association with people. (Walker's Mammals of the World, 5th ed, p1065) Canis familiaris,Dog
D005260 Female Females
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D013817 Thermography Imaging the temperatures in a material, or in the body or an organ. Imaging is based on self-emanating infrared radiation (HEAT WAVES), or on changes in properties of the material or tissue that vary with temperature, such as ELASTICITY; MAGNETIC FIELD; or LUMINESCENCE.
