[1st findings of Anisakis larvae in pike perches, Stizostedion lucioperca, in coastal waters of the Baltic Sea]. 1981

K Feiler, and H M Winkler

For the first time Anisakis larvae were found in pike perches, Stizostedion lucioperca (L), caught in GDR coastal waters. Herrings parasitized by Anisakis are regarded as the source of infestation, for herrings represent an important part of the food of the pike perch. The occurrence of anisakiasis by eating pike perch is very unlikely considering eating habits in the GDR. The occurrence of larvae as "natural indicators" can be applied in fish biological research.
