[Causal treatment of corneal vascularization (author's transl)]. 1980

G Imre, and J Bögi

Corneal vascularization is attributable to the swelling and increased lactate concentration in the cornea, which are caused by damage to the oxidizing metabolism. Invasion of leukocytes stimulated by prostaglandins also promotes the increase in the lactate concentration. The following causal treatment is possible: 40% glucose to combat the swelling, 3% cystein to improve the oxidizing metabolism and counteract the increased lactate concentration, and 0.5% indomethacin suspension to prevent the formation of prostaglandins and hence the invasion of leukozytes.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007213 Indomethacin A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAID) that inhibits CYCLOOXYGENASE, which is necessary for the formation of PROSTAGLANDINS and other AUTACOIDS. It also inhibits the motility of POLYMORPHONUCLEAR LEUKOCYTES. Amuno,Indocid,Indocin,Indomet 140,Indometacin,Indomethacin Hydrochloride,Metindol,Osmosin
D007773 Lactates Salts or esters of LACTIC ACID containing the general formula CH3CHOHCOOR.
D003316 Corneal Diseases Diseases of the cornea. Corneal Disease,Disease, Corneal,Diseases, Corneal
