Format-filled detail photographs with the Kowa RC-W retinal camera. 1980

A Aan de Kerk, and A Deutman, and E van Nouhuys

We adapted a Nikon camera body without a build-in mask to the Kowa RC-W retinal camera in combination with the Komura Telemore 95 2 X magnification accessory attachment. This way we obtain finer detail retinal photographs taking the complete image field of 24 X 36 mm on the film into consideration. The negatives or slides are large enough to be read without the use of a magnifier. Most other systems have a smaller field of view at higher magnification, because of built-in masks.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D010781 Photography Method of making images on a sensitized surface by exposure to light or other radiant energy. Photographies
D012160 Retina The ten-layered nervous tissue membrane of the eye. It is continuous with the OPTIC NERVE and receives images of external objects and transmits visual impulses to the brain. Its outer surface is in contact with the CHOROID and the inner surface with the VITREOUS BODY. The outer-most layer is pigmented, whereas the inner nine layers are transparent. Ora Serrata
D005451 Fluorescein Angiography Visualization of a vascular system after intravenous injection of a fluorescein solution. The images may be photographed or televised. It is used especially in studying the retinal and uveal vasculature. D014402 Tuberous Sclerosis Autosomal dominant neurocutaneous syndrome classically characterized by MENTAL RETARDATION; EPILEPSY; and skin lesions (e.g., adenoma sebaceum and hypomelanotic macules). There is, however, considerable heterogeneity in the neurologic manifestations. It is also associated with cortical tuber and HAMARTOMAS formation throughout the body, especially the heart, kidneys, and eyes. Mutations in two loci TSC1 and TSC2 that encode hamartin and tuberin, respectively, are associated with the disease.
