Association of triiodothyronine binding activity to soluble adenylate cyclase in testicular preparations. 1981

Cytosolic adenylate cyclase activity from rat seminiferous tubules was purified by chromtography in DEAE-cellulose, hydroxylapatite and Bio-Gel A-0.5 m as well as by centrifugation in sucrose gradients. In all these purification steps, fractions with adenylate cyclase activity also contained binding activity for L-T3. Binding studies indicate the existence of two L-T3 receptor components associated to adenylate cyclase activity. The component exhibiting the highest hormone affinity has the lowest binding capacity.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007700 Kinetics The rate dynamics in chemical or physical systems.
D008297 Male Males
D011485 Protein Binding The process in which substances, either endogenous or exogenous, bind to proteins, peptides, enzymes, protein precursors, or allied compounds. Specific protein-binding measures are often used as assays in diagnostic assessments. Plasma Protein Binding Capacity,Binding, Protein
D003600 Cytosol Intracellular fluid from the cytoplasm after removal of ORGANELLES and other insoluble cytoplasmic components. Cytosols
D000262 Adenylyl Cyclases Enzymes of the lyase class that catalyze the formation of CYCLIC AMP and pyrophosphate from ATP. D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D012671 Seminiferous Tubules The convoluted tubules in the TESTIS where sperm are produced (SPERMATOGENESIS) and conveyed to the RETE TESTIS. Spermatogenic tubules are composed of developing germ cells and the supporting SERTOLI CELLS. Seminiferous Tubule,Tubule, Seminiferous,Tubules, Seminiferous
D013737 Testis The male gonad containing two functional parts: the SEMINIFEROUS TUBULES for the production and transport of male germ cells (SPERMATOGENESIS) and the interstitial compartment containing LEYDIG CELLS that produce ANDROGENS. Testicles,Testes,Testicle
D014284 Triiodothyronine A T3 thyroid hormone normally synthesized and secreted by the thyroid gland in much smaller quantities than thyroxine (T4). Most T3 is derived from peripheral monodeiodination of T4 at the 5' position of the outer ring of the iodothyronine nucleus. The hormone finally delivered and used by the tissues is mainly T3.
