Determining whether a subject is left--or right--handed is a problem usually entrusted to a neurologist, psychologist, or orthophonist. The ophthalmologist is also involved, however, evaluating which is the dominant eye being an important feature of the examination. At the present time, the study of conjugated ocular movements appears to be the most reliable method for detecting hemispheric lateralisation.
